About Me

I’ve searched for solutions… to pain, anxiety, and depression. We all have been searching. Here’s some things that I found work for me, and I believe they can work for you too.

  • Meditation – there are studies that prove how powerful our mind is. There are different ways to meditate! Not everyone has to sit in lotus position and repeat “Om.” If meditation hasn’t worked in the past, maybe you haven’t found the right one for you, yet.
  • Alternative medicine – CBD can help. But it’s not the only thing I recommend trying (and I also don’t always recommend CBD).  PS: I’m not a doctor. I research extensively and present my findings. I ALWAYS encourage you to talk with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Alternative therapies – I believe in talk therapy. I also believe it can only take you so far. Sometimes it’s time to change therapists or spend some time soul searching on your own. If ever something comes up that is difficult to handle on your own, always reach out. You are important! Massage, reiki, chiropractors, shamans… whatever you feel you need, try it. Do it! Don’t let anyone else discourage you. But please, be wary. Get reviews and recommendations first.
  • Taking a break – Taking a break is so important. What do I mean by taking a break? Take regular breaks from social media. Find a hobby and foster it! Take news fasts. Dr. Andrew Weil introduced me to news fasts in his book 8 Weeks to Optimum Health. I highly recommend it.

But really… Here’s about me and my journey.

How did I get here? And just who am I? My name is Heather. I’m a reiki practioner, meditation coach, and wellness advocate. I have always been interested in alternative medicines. Growing up as an asthmatic with chronic bronchitis made me start searching at a very young age. I attended a workshop on managing asthma around the age of 9 and it included breathing techniques not unlike those in yoga and meditation. I drank coffee in my teens to help open me up because at that time coffee was not a regular drink for me. It works for a mild attack if you’re not used to it. My father was a big supporter. He introduced me to coffee (for this reason only) and also transcendental meditation. I have Dr. Weil’s books because… well, my father. He bought them and shared them with me. Also the audiobook (on cassette – can you believe it) of The Celestine Prophecy.

Years later I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and then later lupus. I also have PTSD and anxiety from domestic violence I have since left behind. All of these things have had me searching, learning, and now sharing and teaching what I find to be helpful. Not only for what ails me, but for what can help others too. So that’s a little bit about me and my journey. Please feel free to drop me a message. I’d love to hear from you.

What is Ananda?

I’m sure many of you are wondering what “Ananda” is? Well, it’s not someone’s name here at our company, not yet anyhow. Ananda is sanskrit for extreme happiness or bliss. And we are committed to helping you find your bliss!

I also chose Ananda for the business name because anandamide is an endocannabinoid created in our brains. Touted as the “bliss molecule,” anandamide can also be found in chocolate. This doesn’t mean you will get high off of plain chocolate, but it does explain why eating chocolate feels good.  CBD works by increasing anandamide in your body giving you more of that ♫♪ good-good-good “bliss molecule.” ♪♫
